My Story
August Kim(b. 2007, Daegu, South Korea) is a sophomore in Stevenson School at Monterey Peninsula of Northern California. Born and raised from Daegu province, South Korea, hemoved to the United States when he was fifteen for a boarding school. Most of his artistic career is embedded with the admiration towards his painter grandfather, and he never encouraged art as a career in his formal life. He considered art as a singular constant in life and a guidance to find stability despite his ceaseless desire for change and excitement. He entices his precise connection with art, saying, “It was definitely a regulator and outlet for me and urges me to reflect on both myself, society, and history, and it makes me feel connected to humanity in a way that feels really personal and instinctual, almost biological.”
